What happens after Cataract Surgery?

You may experience itching and mild discomfort following cataract surgery.   However, you should not feel any pain.  If you do feel pain, call our office immediately.    Your eye may feel sensitive to light and touch.  You will need to continue wearing the patch on your eye until you come to our office the following day for your post-operative appointment.

At your post-operative appointment, the patch will be removed and we will give you instructions regarding eyedrops which you will use to help the healing process and to decrease the risk of infection.  Avoid rubbing or pressing on your eye.

When you are at home, try not to bend from the waist to pick up objects on the floor.  Do not lift heavy objects.  You can walk, climb stairs, and do light household chores.

You eye will continue to heal following surgery and we will schedule exams to check on your progress.  If you have any questions, please contact our office.
