Cataract Surgery - Russell S. Cravey, M.D.

What happens during Cataract Surgery?

Dr. Cravey performs surgery at the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital Ambulatory Surgical Center.  You will need to make arrangements for someone to take you to the center on the day of the surgery.

After your arrival at the center, drops will be put into your eye to dilate the pupil and the area around your eye will be washed and cleansed.

The surgery itself usually lasts less than 15 minutes but you will be at the center for approximately 2 hours.

You will have an anesthetic to numb the nerves in and around the eye.   After the cataract surgery, a patch will be placed over your eye and you will be allowed to go home.
