Styes

Styes

A small area of redness and pain on the margin of your eyelid may indicate you have a stye.  A stye is a blocked gland at the edge of the lid which has become infected by bacteria, usually Staphylococcus aureaus.

If you develop a stye contact Kerrville Eye Center, P.A. for an appointment.  The treatment of styes usually involves warm compresses followed by the application of antibiotic ointment to the stye.  Sometimes it is necessary for the stye to be lanced by an ophthalmologist to assist with expression.
